MAY

I guess I am doing this blog-thing all wrong! I do not have an interesting enough life to write something everyday and, besides, I don't think anyone but me reads it anyway! But, here is my MAY post, for what it's worth!
1. Claire received her Academic Medallion from Duke University on 5/19/10. She was also Valedictorian for her company, received highest awards for Social Studies, Science, Language Arts and Spanish as well.
2. Claire's recital was on her birthday, May 23rd. It was really good this year.
3. Claire was officially a teenager on 5/23/10 at 8:32 am :)
4. Hannah won 2 academic medals, one for Advanced American History and the other for Spanish II, she received all A's again for the year.
5. Hannah went with one of her best friends, Neha, to Biloxi, MS this past weekend. Explored the Vera Bradley outlet and had a ball!
6. We are going to the property this weekend and then, on Memorial Day, to the BRAVES -vs - the PHILLIES game!
7. Don is BUSY - took on another partner (Ted Trotter from church).
8. I am staying busy, have been sick with strep (somewhat better) and looking forward to some TIME OFF this summer.

Life continues on the busy road. Hannah drives us everywhere now. We will have a week at the beach in July and hopefully lots of "boat time". We are going out for sure on my birthday (June 10th) and probably as many other times as we can! LIFE STILL ROCKS!

APRIL showers bring MAY flowers...

Okay, so here it is, the last day of April. We have been out on the boat 4 times this month and are going to start the month of May off with a boat trip, too! Hannah left this morning for Disney World, Claire is singing at the Kiwanis Club for a luncheon today and I am working hard ... ha! ha! Seriously, I am cleaning up lots of loose ends as it looks like the Joint Commission for Hospital Accreditation will be here Monday for a 4 day survey of our campus.

We are good. We lost a chicken to a fight last week - sad how they turn on each other - so we are down to 8 hens and Heuvo, our rooster. The dogs are good, the pool is up and running and Don has taken on another "partner", Ted Trotter. He is our deacon at church and recently lost his job as a dairy farm manager when the owner of the farm lost it to bad business practices. He is a great guy, sweet family and a hard worker. Don is excited as it may allow him to back off a little on some of the harder aspects of work.

My parents are coming for a 10 day visit on May 15th, we will be going to Georgia Southern on the 19th for Claire's presentation, she is getting a Proclamation from the School Board on the 11th and goes to the FUN STATION with chorus on the 7th. She is having a pool party the 15th, turns 13 on the 23rd and will be having her Dance Recital on that same day - WHEW! Hannah will be taking her first AP Class in the fall - Language and Composition - and was invited to participate in the AA Program thru Thomas University but declined. We think it is a better path to take the AP route, save her HOPE money and look just as impressive to colleges when her time to apply comes around.

May is just around the corner - tomorrow actually - and we haven't slowed down a beat! Keeps life interesting :)

Where did MARCH go???!!!

Well, I completely missed the month of MARCH! Here we are, April 3rd and I find myself behind. Does that tell you anything? Yes, March, like most other months in the life of the Sivyer family, was BUSY! I believe I will just leave the summation at that and move on to APRIL :)

We may have to change the name of this blog to "BOAT LIFE". That's right, folks, we bought another boat! A 19' Twin Vee Bay Cat. Don has a new love :( Seriously, he is like a kid on Christmas morning! We just picked it up yesterday, spent the entire day on the water and he got up at 7am this morning to clean it up, flush out the engine and will be spending most of the afternoon waxing the hull and doing a hundred other things to it, I am sure! We had a BLAST!

Hannah turns the big 1-5 tomorrow, learner's permit looming on the horizon and Spring Break having begun yesterday. Ain't it great to be alive??!!! We spent a fun weekend at Cape San Blas last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She took her friend, Gina (whom we ADORE), and we had such a fun time. She is blooming into such a beautiful young lady. She has a bit of maturing to do but, that will come with time.

Claire got her braces on Thursday - painful is how she might describe her mouth right now. She looks so different. Not like my thumb-sucking baby anymore :( She took her friend, Laura (another Q-T) to the beach last weekend. Two skinny-minis in bikinis!!!!! Claire is growing up so beautifully! She will be receiving an Academic Medallion from Duke University in May for her S.A.T. scores being so high - WOW! and has been invited to be inducted into the NJHS in May. We are blessed by our girls!

I am furloughing, working, keeping up with 10 chickens (we acquired 7 female chicks in March), 4 dogs, 2 BUSY girls and 1 WONDERFUL husband. Life continues to be fast-paced but, I LOVE IT!!! Here's the "run-down" for April:

1. Lots of BOAT trips, I am sure!
2. Oboe lessons continue for Hannah
3. Dance continues for Claire - recital is on her 13th birthday this year!
4. Hannah marches Rose Show parade
5. Hannah goes to Disney for competition with TCCHS Band
6. CRCT for Claire
7. End of course tests for Hannah
8. Work for me and Don!

AMEN!

HAPPY EASTER to ALL - Praise God; HE IS RISEN!!!

5.We are "beaching" it March 26-29 and
6.planning to spend a couple days of Spring Break in Otto.
7.It has been cold, then nice and warm and now, COLD again!
8.Hannah travels with the band to Disney World at the end of April.
9. I am into my 3rd furlough
10. Claire has her 1st ORTHO appointment Monday to take impressions, schedule getting 3 teeth pulled and have xrays taken. She should be in braces by April.

February, the LOVE Month

I cannot believe it is already February. We have finished Disciple Now, Claire has taken her first Advanced Class on Pointe, Hannah is up for a flute solo for District Honor Band Festival (she has also been asked to take up the oboe for concert band) and my first furlough day is just around the corner. Time is SPEEDING by me and I am getting too old to even want to try to catch it!

We are going to try to take a long weekend (soon) and go to the beach. We will be spending some of Spring Break and Hannah's Birthday (15 and able to drive!) at the property. We had thought about a spontaneous trip up there last weekend when it was snowing but, the 9 degree temperature forecast scared us off!

On a mission

Hannah and her friend, Gina, are holding a bake sale to raise money for kids in the Thomasville area that don't get enough to eat each day. They were baking up a storm yesterday - brownies, cupcakes, a bundt cake, cookies. YUM! The house smelled so good :)

I had a root canal (arghh!) yesterday. Apparently, it gets to feeling WORSE before it gets to feeling BETTER - right now is worse :(

Claire has been invited to move in to the Advanced dance class for Pointe work. We bought her first pointe shoes Saturday. She looks 1. very tall 2. very skinny 3. very graceful! She is excited!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2010 is off to a GREAT start already. Hannah and 2 of her BFFs plus Claire and I went to the mall today for them to spend their Christmas money. We had a fun time. The weather has gotten cold and is supposed to stay that way throughout this week. Don is enjoying being a "College Football Bowl-Junkie" this weekend.
